Arrival and Day 1

Yesterday, we have arrived safely at the Jamboree site after a very long flight. We rode the bus from the Copenhagen Airport to the Jamboree with some scouts from France. We arrived at around 1645 local time. Luckily, our tents were already set up by Western Region, and all we had to do was move them. We also set up our stoves, and set up our dining fly as well.

Today, we set up our gateway, built out of pioneering poles. Our quartermaster, Cameron, did a wonderful job organizing everyone and getting the job done, even through the pouring rain. Our gateway has two towers, one with a flagpole for the California flag, and one for our banner. We have free time until 1800 today, then we mobilize for the opening ceremony at 2000.

I will do my best to post every day to report on the day's events.

  1. Randy,
Great job getting up the first day and setting up this blog!

Glad to hear that your travel went well. There are several aerial views of the Winter camp section that you are in, but I don't know what your tents look like. Could you please describe their shape, color, and location within your subcamp?

Are you able to post pictures here? If so, we'd love to see the Gateway.

BTW - Do you or anyone else know if someone will be coming to World Jam from the Bay Area? I have some business cards that I made for your leadership that need to get to them and I'm afraid that regular mail will be too slow. Thanks in advance for checking!

Have a great time! We look forward to following your blog.
